Year 2017#

In December 2017, eighteen people from 6 families visited Baiwan. They taught English, art and crafts in Hei Moong Primary School and the Nan An Primary School. Presents were distributed to the children after the activities. They visited some households in local villages and bought food for needy families. The Baiwan Charity sponsored the Hei Moong Primary School to install the energy saving system, and the Nan An Primary School to construct the refuse collection site. The Charity also sponsored the Nan An Scholarship for students who perform well in examinations. Island School also donated some bilingual dictionaries to Baiwan Secondary School.

In November 2017, thirty three Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan. They taught in local schools, visited some local villages and had a basketball match with the teachers in Hei Moong Primary School and the students in Baiwan Secondary School. They distributed scarves and hats to the students in Nan An and Hei Moong Primary Schools. The Baiwan Charity sponsored the Hei Moong Scholarship for students who perform well in examinations. Before the group travelled to Baiwan, they stayed in the Fengxia Middle School in Qingyuan and met the students sponsored by the Baiwan Charity.

At end of June 2017, a group of 13 students, teachers and friends from the Island School community visited Baiwan for 4 days. They visited the Sunbeam Children’s village and played with the playgroup children there. They also taught in the local primary schools. The group collected clothes, toys and stationeries before the trip. These resources were distributed to needy families in Baiwan and the children in the schools. They visited the Fengxia Middle School in Qingyuan on the way back to HK and played games with the students sponsored by the Baiwan Charity.

In April 2017, a couple of the Baiwan Charity visited Baiwan and the Fengxia Middle School. They taught English in Hei Moong Primary School and distributed some gifts to the children. They also visited some households in the local community. They brought a family in a remote village some daily supplies and donated some money to pay for the medical fees of a boy who suffered from a motorbike accident.
